More and more small and medium-sized companies discover online marketing as an effective way of communicating with their customers. There is also a positive effect on the whole communications mix and the modern image of the internet is transferred on to the company using the internet for advertising.

By using different techniques, like banner and keyword advertising, the company tries to form a strong brand, which will be recognized by their customers in the future. Ultimately the company’s goal is, that internet users trying to find a product do not use search engines, but instead go to the web page directly. By accomplishing this goal the company has formed a strong brand and is able to be the market leader.
